Wine & Dine Experiences
The Red Deer region offers foodies a full spectrum of culinary
adventures. From farmer's markets to award winning restaurants, the
area is home to a variety of delicious experiences that are sure to
satisfy even the most discriminating pallets.

The area is home to a number of farmers' markets and
u-picks - allowing aspiring
foodies the chance to hand select the freshest ingredients for
their own culinary creations. The Market at Red Deer, in operation
for over 40 years, runs on Saturday mornings from the May long
weekend to Thanksgiving and boasts a wide assortment of vendors and
products. Markets in Blackfalds,
Sylvan Lake, Innisfail, Lacombe and Ponoka also keep
shoppers busy.
For
those that don't mind getting a bit dirty, u-picks offer a true
"hands-on" approach to gathering the freshest ingredients. Billyco Junction and Blooming Fields are just a few of the
best spots to enjoy an afternoon picking berries and
vegetables.
Prefer to have someone else do the cooking for you? No problem.
Red Deer is home to a variety of restaurants, cafes,
bistros and pubs. Relax with a glass of wine and enjoy some
fine dining at Redstone Grill & Wine
Bar, The Keg Steakhouse &
Bar or La Casa Pergola. Those looking for a
slightly more casual meal are in luck too. Restaurants like Moxies
Classic Grill, Original Joes, One Eleven, Fusion Cafe and Earls top the long list of possible
destinations. There are plenty of options when dining with the
family as well. Choose from a long list of familiar names like Boston Pizza, Denny's and Tony Roma's or opt for
local favourites including Heritage Ranch, Dino's Family
Restaurant and George's Pizza and
Steakhouse.
The
Holiday Inn and Suites Red Deer South offers an award winning
culinary experience. Executive Chef Emmanuel
David has won gold and silver medals in international
culinary competitions and once cooked for Queen Elizabeth II.
There are a few unique and interesting culinary experiences in
the area that are worth a peek. Look for the oversized teapot sign
at Glenn's Restaurant on Highway 2.
This cozy eatery has been around for over 30 years and their
extensive tea
menu
features close to 200 varieties. It's pretty hard to miss the
neighbouring Donut Mill. Head to the big
windmill for soup, sandwiches and, of course, donuts. Locals will
tell you that some of the best food in town comes out of a bus. If
you're looking for good coffee, yummy food and fun ambiance, look
for the Cool Beans double decker
bus downtown. If you find yourself needed something sweet while out
at a local market or event, keep an eye out for the Wannawafel cart and satisfy
your craving with a delicious Belgian waffle.
